To fill the days and enjoy the summer as much as possible, Perth City hosts a bunch of amazing events. We’ve compiled a list of our favourites this summer 2019/2020, take a look at what’s on.

From the producers of Fringe World, the Rooftop Movies is the place to be this summer. Expect gorgeous sunset views from the top of a Northbridge car park, decked out in cute beanbags and of course a film screen. Purchase your wine from the bar, and even your dinner and snacks, then kick back to enjoy. Hot tip: get there when doors open as all the good beanbags go quick!

Twilight Hawkers Market

The best place to enjoy food from all around the world is the Twilight Hawkers Market which pops up on Friday nights in the centre of the city. Head to Forrest Chase to enjoy a selection of delicious eats, drinks and desserts. *Note: be sure to check their Facebook page for any spontaneous venue changes.

Big Bash League

Cricket is Australia’s favourite summer sport, and the KFC Big Bash League (BBL) is the sport to watch. The family friendly event boasts more than cricket, with non-stop action, fireworks, live music and kids activities. This year, BBL will call Optus Stadium its new home conveniently located just 15 minutes away via train on event days. Pop in for a refreshing drink at The Camfield (WA’s biggest bar!) before a great day in the sun.

Expect circus, cabaret, comedy, musicals, mermaids and much more from the 2019 Fringe Festival. It’s everyone’s favourite summertime activity – the perfect way to spend long summer nights in Perth City. Enjoy a meal in the city before heading to The Pleasure Garden or the Urban Orchard – outdoor pop up bars in the heart of the Fringe events.

Australia Day Skyworks
Celebrate Australia’s diversity by the Swan River with a picnic as you watch the sun go down and the fireworks begin! Plus, there are plenty of rides and entertainment throughout the night. Be sure to get there early to nab a great viewing spot! Swan River is just a 5-minute walk from Holiday Inn Perth City Centre.

Perth’s favourite basketball team the Wildcats are playing their last games before finals time. Support them at RAC Arena in February as they strive to win the championship.

Perth Festival has been one of Australia’s premier curated multi-arts festivals since 1953. They proudly claim that they’ve been “disrupting and celebrating Perth and Western Australia for over 65 years”. Perth Festival has a range of free and paid events, from Ballet at The Quarry, to films in the pines and live music.

Chinese New Year Fair

The Chinese New Year Fair returns to Northbridge for another year of celebration. From lion and dragon dancing, to stalls, rides, a parade and more, the multicultural celebration can be enjoyed in China Town, Lake St and James St.
