The perfect cultural experience for the kids this school holidays is Mr Robot; a play which reminds us that we’re all made up of different parts. The Perth Mint is a favourite among the little ones. Who wouldn’t want to see pure gold being heated to molten temperatures then poured into a gold bar!? It’ll leave the kids amazed and wanting more. There is plenty to do at the Perth Mint, take a wander through the gold exhibition or stop to see the one tonne gold coin in all it’s glory. They also offer guided heritage walks of the building, the secure vault and the original melting house. Stimulate young brains with a visit to Scitech, at City West. The centre is designed to introduce children to scientific concepts in a fun and surprising way. Check out exhibits like the Puppet Theatre, the Astronaut feature exhibit as well as live bees busy in their honey production. Parents might even learn a thing or two along the way as well!

Heirisson Island features the city’s local colony of Western Grey Kangaroos, in a small island on Swan River accessible by the Causeway. It may be tempting to walk up and pat them, but remember these are wild kangaroos and some are not used to being touched! Take a bike out to the island to make a whole day of it.
